A quick question for US folks

Do any of the US GSM operators do SIM only pay-as-you-go accounts? It occurs to me that as I have an unlocked phone I could save some money with a US SIM card rather than paying exorbitant roaming fees...

If so: then who would you recommend?

We use one of my old UK phones with a SIM card we got here, and that is with AT&T previously known as Cingular. I think when theora moved back and was researching it, they were the only ones doing this, but I could be wrong.

No. There is no real SIM card business in the US.

Yup. AT&T sell them. We have a couple we use for guests in various spare phones I have lying around. Of couse, you are swapping exhorbitant roaming for insane PAYG fees but they do have them.

I'm pretty sure you can get them with T-Mobile as well but T-Mo's service is just nasty up here.

These guys seem like good value - by comparison with the UK networks' rip-off roaming rates, anyhow.

Alternatively, there's some others listed here that are cheaper, but will require periodic top-ups, by the look of it.
