Not A Box - Just A Connector

It's a full IP set-top box built into a SCART plug. The intention is to run VNC or similar, and to be a simple terminal server into what ever media system you want to run - just plug it into an ethernet connection and go.

Now that's something I'd like to plug into my TV.

I rather like my Hauppage MVP. If they could just standardise on what protocol media servers should use, we could commodotise the damn things and everyone could have a small black box under their TVs that talked to their Tivo/Freeview/DVD player and then plugged into the back of their TV.

Forget Firewire, SCART or anything else - the future of interconnectivity should bloody well be TCP/IP.

Nice - but how do you control it?

You mean I can't buy it? I need one now!

I'm assuming it boots off the network so it hardly even needs any firmware. It can't be that expensive. It would give me much, much better picture quality than the bloody 800x600-then-downsampled-to-PAL-resolution S-video out I get on my NVidia card. And it would be so cute!

Nabjac me up!

You're of course making the unsubstantiated assumption that there is actually any worthwhile program content on TV.

Ah, but this connects your TV to the IP world. So no need to worry about what's on TV - it's just another network device now.
