Now what's the point of THAT?

Channel 5 is being rebranded as Five. Surely if no one watched it under the old name, they're not going to change their viewing habits because of a new name and logo. The one thing that has really changed the way we watch TV is our Sky+ box. Now we control our viewing schedule - not some corporate planner somewhere...

Cost of Five: £2 million. Cost of Ten?

(I made the numbers up.)

you have Sky+, we have Tivo on Telewest digital (partly because of perlmonger's blind hatred of all things Murdochian :)

but it does indeed revolutionise the way you watch television - we never watch "live" tv any more. And on the subject of tv, we were horrified by the channel break idents on E4 last night in the middle of The West Wing - are they always like that, or were they wheeled out specially for the occasion.

If you mean the purple and white things ...
... with the "end of part one" stuff, then they are the current "in your face" channel idents. And let me tell you, watching it on the BIG screen (7.5' diagonal!) they are almost frightening in their size and whooshingness!

They were using them for the end of Ally McBeal a few weeks back, and in the middle of Six Foot Under so I assume they are standard (but since that's about all I watch on E4 how can I tell?)

C5 needed to rebrand; not distinct really distinct from C4.

If you've not looked, there's good stuff on Five; CSI, Law&Order and History of Britain from the Air....

Expect to see changes in the line up as the new boss changes the content pattern, but I expect the above mentioned to carry on.

Channel Five now called Five
And in a copycat stylee, BBC Choice is becoming "The BackStreetBoys", UK Gold is becoming "Bjorn Again", and VH1 is becoming "Ded Zeppelin".

Rumours that UK Style are becoming "Style Club 7" and The Adult Channel becoming "Liberty X" have been denied ...
