More Radio 4 goodness...

...in the shape of a delightful transcript from a recent edition of From Our Own Correspondent:

A Swiss hygiene inspector calls.
Moving house is said to be one of life's most stressful experiences but, in Switzerland, it is made even more stressful by strict requirements on how you leave your old home. Imogen Foulkes moved house recently and describes the day the hygiene inspector came to call.
So, as complicated as it might be to move house her in the UK, it's a lot harder in other parts of the world...

Just like moving out from an Armed Forces family quarter, really.

Actually, these days it's not nearly as bad - you have the option of paying a set rate (about £100 or so) for approved contract cleaners to come in and do it for you. But the Swiss experience sounds awfully familiar.

Mendi and I caught the programme and it took us right back to our military "march-out" days. The most ridiulousthing we had to do was to dismantle the u-bends on all sinks and surgiacally clean the inside of the u-bend!
