Bad news for London SF readers...

New Worlds will be closing at the end of March.

Murder One has to move (as a result of the redevelopment that's going to destroy Chinatown), and the new premises don't have enough space, and unfortunately it's the SF that has to go.

Sod it!
That was the shop where I did most of my browsing after Forbidden Planet decided that it wasn't really a bookshop any more. But I'm still lamenting the loss of Dark They Were and Golden Eyed! ;@)

Looks like a bad year: both Camden and Chinatown given up to The Man :(

As long as they're not dumping the crime!

Odd - I always think of crime & SF as going well together - certainly better than crime & romance novels! Maybe 'cos I read crime & SF & not romance?

Still, romance must sell or they'd be dumping that section instead of SF...

Arse!
On trips in to London to see films the usual meeting place was outside the Prince Charles Cinema at 7pm, and I'd bust a gut to get there a bit before so I could tear around New Worlds first. I was rarely in the the shop for more that 15 or 20 minutes at a time, usually worked out at about £2 a minute.
