Scan my interest list and pick out the one that seems the most odd to you.

I'll explain it.

Then you post this in your journal so other people can ask you about your interests.

Oooh! Oooh! *jumps up and down* Please say more about Pokethulu!

...is the roleplaying game of a famous TV cartoon.

Amid the sagging gables of old New England, evil lurks . . . and squirms, and scuttles, and purrs. Grownups are fleeing in terror, hiding behind the Elder Sign.

You're 10 years old. You're our last hope. Armed with a Shining Dodecahedron and the elder incantations to make it work, you capture the monsters and train them to use their power . . . But not for evil. For sport.

You've thrilled to the popular TV show. Now, you can play the game! Is your Shoplifting score good enough to sneak a page from your opponent's Pokénomicon? Is your trained Jigglypolyp powerful enough to defeat a devolved Fungal Cluster? This is the world of Pokéthulhu, and now it's yours to save – or conquer!

Or at least it would be in another universe. In ours it's a rather fun game that mixes Call of Cthulu with Pokemon, and gives us such delights as Pikathulu...

The dumb broad asks: What's isihac? far too many people I know also seem interested in this, I probably should know what it is.

(To redeem her ignorance, she says - I know what "scranletting ticklepenny corner" is, but I can't remember if you're supposed to wait until the sukebind is in flower.)

Context computing?
Jan. 20th, 2005 03:51 am (UTC)
Context computing is an extension of the idea of "presence" into applications that are aware of the user - the time of day, their location, the device they are using - and then deliver functionality appropriate to the context of the user interaction.

Or in other words - software that responds to your needs, rather than forcing you to fit in with its requirements.

Remeberance agents, IRC bots and Personal Area Networks? That kind of thing, I guess?

Well, they're part of the basis of it. My approach to it comes from developing serivce architectures for mobile use, which need to be able to handle long, multi-device transactions, and to be able to operate in the context of limited UIs, deep UIs and 10ft UIs - and to be able to deliver an effective interaction model for all of them.

Fascinating stuff.

Sounds sweet :)
