The Big Trip

After Honeymoon Express, we go for Honeymoon Pro* on November the 8th, arriving in New Zealand on the 13th and staying there until the 14th of December...

So, as marypcb noted in her LJ a couple of days ago, we'll be having a post-wedding open house on Sunday the 31st October, when we will have been living in the East Putney Museum Of Science Fiction, Fantasy And Comic Art (and Lending Library) for 7 years...

*I think I have reviewed too many Microsoft server and developer products...

Have a nice time here Simon. We're having a good if changeable Spring, so expect the greenery to be at its finest. And there's good news on the hurricane front too - they're not expected to get far enough south to reach NZ this year. Not that you can believe a word our forecasters say... ;-)

Maybe we'll get a chance to meet up!

Your honeymoon route is public? ;-)

More that we haven't decided on it yet!

(but probably bouncing around in a Campa)

Ah. Well, I'm in Hastings, Hawke's Bay, which is kinda inbetween any place of interest in the North Island. :-) I assume you're arriving in Auckland?

We're going to base out of Christchurch, as we have good friends there... Folk like sethop...

A late reply, since I had to get around to adding some contact info without, hopefully, getting something wrong. So, on the off chance you are in these parts, you can contact me here...

if I've got Custom Friends' grouping right. There's a link to it on my Info page too. Would be nice to meet you and Mary, who should also be able to see it. I'm the one who guessed a while back where the photo for her user-icon was taken, though how I came to see the question I can't recall, as I've only just added her to my Friends' List. A little mystery there. :-)

As I said, we're sort of in-between the more interesting places of NZ. Touristy things to do here are see the gannet colony...

which I haven't done since I was a kid. Then you'd be taken on tractor and trailer along the beach while it was high-tide. I remember avoiding blue-bottle stings more than the gannets.

Plus there's Napier, "The Art Deco Capital of the World", (yeah, right), and the local wine trails, which since I don't drink I haven't been on, though I did work at one of the wineries once. And not a lot else of the top of my head. The weather's usually lovely though.

Anyway, enjoy your holiday - a campavan's the way to do it. If you hear of somewhere interesting you can just go there. Much more likely to see the real NZ that way.

Just discovered there's still tractor trips along the beach...
