From Ticker to Alerts

I've just downloaded the BBC's new news alert tool. It's a step on from their headline ticker, which is starting to show its age. Like the existing email alert service, the desktop alert tool is designed to pop-up breaking news as it happens.

An interesting idea and a possibly useful tool...

If it ever actually DOES pop-up, instead of just sitting there for two weeks the way my one did until I got sick of it, do let us know...

Will do! It's certainly not done much yet...

Perhaps it's waiting for orders from the government Protect Yourself web services...

Be good if BBC World didn't only broadcast here between midnight and 6am...

"Breaking", sometimes, somewhat of a misnomer
It's quite cute--except the alerts have something of a lag. I'm less than interested in being alerted to something I've already heard about on the news.

Don't like the brown colour, either (but that goes for the BBC News site too).
