Glass in the sky

I love the works of Dale Chihuly. Maybe it's because I used to be a glass blower (albeit not very good...). Or may be it's just the sweep and flow of his works.

I've posted pictures of his jellyfish works at the Monterey Bay aquarium before now, and I've seen larger pieces in Salt Lake City and in New York. But it was the glass ceiling in the lobby of the Bellagio in Las Vegas that really took my breath away. Hundreds of backlit glass forms in as many colours, they swept down from ceiling in a fan of light...

I'm using a photograph I took as the screen backdrop on my tablet PC, and I thought it was something I should share with you. Just click on the image below to open up a 1024x768 version of the picture, which you can then set as the screen backdrop on your Mac or PC...

I was fortunate enough to see some of Chihuly's work a few years back when an exhibition of his came to town. Little bits of heaven. Thank you for posting that!

Gorgeous.

But I keep thinking of trying to dust it all ...

Funny coincidence... last night I was editing a backdrop from my photo of the same ceiling.
