I've never really felt like just some punk on a dot before now.

Well, OK, maybe once or twice at a mall looking at their map with the legend "You Are Here."

I recall, some years ago, seeing footage of the Earth taken from a Soviet lunar rover (possibly the only Soviet lunar rover?) in 1970/71, just before the vehicle was switched off. It was brought to a stop; the camera was trained upwards; and after some ten of fifteen seconds the picture flickered, dissolved and went black as the vehicle's systems were powered down. Even in the grainy black-and-white of the time, you could pick out the outlines of the major continents. It was one of those real "wow!" moments of which life is largely barren.

Reminds me of a photo taken from one of the Voyagers (I think) that had the sun and most of the planets in it, and even the sun was just a dot... Must do a search for that.
