...instead I have a railway line.

And the last three nights in a row I have been woken by some strange piece of machinery that sounds like a hundred angry vacuum cleaners hitting something with hammers. Not fun when you're trying to deal with the 'flu.

I didn't think it couldn't get much worse.

Until tonight.

When it added a siren into the mix...

Aaaaargh.

You have my sympathy. Suffering a cold and blocked ears opposite a large building site's no fun too.

Actually last night was the first time I've been sufficiently awake in the middle of the night to hear a goods train go along the railway line at the end of our terrace. I'm sure there are fewer than there used to be: the regular shakes of the house at 5 a.am doesn't seem to happen any more.

The ghost trains at my dad's place are so much less of a disturbance!

I do hope the 'flu goes.
