The Sloan Digital Sky Survey has led to the creation of these wonderful new maps of the universe, that use a logarithmic scale to show just where we are in the grand scheme of things.

(if anyone wonders, the title of this entry comes from a poem I wrote way back when, when I spent a lot of time in rec.arts.poems)

New Scientist published a fold-out paper version of the Sloan Sky Survey in December. Dunno whether copies might still be available, although I can't see anything on the front page of the site. (You have to be subscriber to be able to access the archive.)

I used to read a lot of stuff in there (and post, I assume, but I can't really remember). It was a good supply of new things to read, although somewhat variable in quality!
