People are posting porn spam in the comments of my occasional other weblog.

I'm not at all happy about that, as it means that Google will be indexing those comments, and the scum will be getting a free ride on my hosting and bandwidth - and my reputation. It's also a lot harder to delete comments from Movable Type than it is from LJ...

I've had a similar problem over in my Other Blog. It wasn't spam so much as abusive comments, although checking the source IP address with SpamCop revealed it to be a known spam source. Grrr. Annoying, but at least with Haloscan I could ban the domain.

Yes, I've just found MT's IP banning function.

Was it from "Lolita"? I found five of those in the comments of my blog today.

A friend just had the same problem with her guestbook on her website. She does animations and has quite a popular site...

Ah yes, the hit and run spammer. I have had to deal with this tactic for several months on the elfling list that I moderate. Spammers join the group, add several new links to porn sites, then disappear into the crystal wind.

I don't get it. I checked out your other blog and they're not even posting hyperlinks when they post porn spam. It's just a list of rude words. What do they hope to get out of it? Or perhaps they tried to post hyperlinks but you blocked HTML comments?

Yours, confused of Canada.
