A new Google toolbar

If you're using Internet Explorer on a Windows PC you can now try out the new Google toolbar, with its new "blog-this" function, form filling tools, and pop-up stoppers.

Pity it won't blog to LJ, though!

Can't you write your own?
I know it's possible to have little applet-ish things (bits of javascript I believe) that you can assign to a customised button on the tool bar ... Eddie C wrote one where you select a postcode on a page and get Multimap to open with a map to that postcode ... not guaranteed to work (ever!) and particularly may have problems with frames

javascript:Qr=document.selection.createRange().text;if(!Qr){void(Qr=prompt('
Post
Code...',''))}if(Qr)location.href='http://uk2.multimap.com/clients/browse.cg
i?client=M6&db=pc&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&quicksearch=&SUBMIT=Find&client=M6&pc
='+escape(Qr)

Save it as a bookmark and drag it onto a toolbar.

Surely something similar could be done for blogging stuff?

Re: Can't you write your own?
Bookmarklets.com started this years ago, but don't seem to have done much since.

I wrote one that finds Amazon titles for me, and pastes them in as a link with my associate ID.

One for converting: Bookmarklets.com

into
<a href="http://www.bookmarklets.com"
  title="Link to Bookmarklets.com"
  target="_bookmarklets" class="external-link"
  >Bookmarklets.com</a>

would be handy too

Wow. That works beautifully in IE 6, but not at all in Mozilla. Do you know whether there's a version for Moz? I'll have a search on lj_nifty
