The emergency safety pillow is now held up by the miraculous power that is staples. The Duck Tape was just not sticking on its own. I think the adhesive wasn't bonding well to the plywood.

So I stapled the tape to the wood.

Bingo.

The pillow is now in a cradle of tape, and the tape is securely held to the temporary ceiling. And we can still use the ladder to go in and out, when we need to talk to the Daves.

Staple guns. When you just need to make it stay up.

That's fighting talk. The duct tape inquisition will be round to administer a good kicking friendly chat shortly...

Staples indeed!

No, and it isn't called Duck Tape either -- that's a manufacturer's joke.

The correct names are:

duct tape: as in, tape for sealing heating ducts.

and

gaffer's tape: as in, tape used by gaffers on movie sets for things like hanging lights (since they're only there temporarily, but need to be securely held).

no, the *correct* term as used by RAF squaddies who hold planes together with this stuff is *bodge tape*
