Ground Control To Major Blair

Walking through the City yesterday afternoon I got a new perspective on the Swiss Re Tower and realised that it's not a building. It's a spaceship built to blueprints from a 1970s SF cover, probably by Tony Roberts or a young Jim Burns.

Hmm. It's got to be the getaway ship for the government...

...5...4...3...2...1...We have lift-off!...

The Swiss Re Tower

What else could it be?

Boy, that thing is going to be so photographed once it's completed. Be fun trying to come up with a novel angle though.

Looks even more like a Gherkin when it's lit up green at night.

My desk at Former Employer from Hell overlooked the site, and I remember the very first triangle going up.

Did you know that work was delayed because it's already sinking? Trust an insurance company ...

Reminds me of my last days at The German Bank about a year ago, watching this thing take shape just two roads over from Bishopsgate.

David Icke would have a field day with this. He has plenty to say on the symbolic significance of Canary Wharfe and the Millennium Dome to our reptilian rulers. To the initiated, the spirals up the outside of this building clearly represent the double helix of DNA! Our leaders are flaunting their genetic dabbling for all the world to see, except we're too dumb to see it!
