Monday morning...

...and another week begins with the traditional LJ weekend update.

After the lack of success of our initial plans for the weekend, when BA cancelled all the planes to Jersey, meaning that we had to miss a good old friend's wedding, the weekend turned into a quiet one.

Saturday was a bit of a null day, as marypcb was extremely tired after her trip to Cupertino. I ended up geeking out too much, fiddling with a new piece of software for the iPod, which was much better at handling file transfers than XPlay. So I spent far too long reworking MP3 ID3 tags - but there are now 750 or tracks on the iPod, which should last a while. It also meant I discovered how much I really like Loop Guru.

Sunday was a bit better, though we over slept and ended up having to miss seeing AToC, so we went for a picnic on the banks of the Thames somewhere near Walton. I got quite a bit further through The Chosen (more thoughts on it later, as I should finish later today - suffice it to say that I'm so far feeling it's in a similar space within the literature of the fantastic to Perdido Street Station), and we watched the boats and swans potter up and down the river. It's quite amazing what you can find in the fridge when you want to make a picnic - herb salad leaves, florida salad, parma ham, tomatoes, aubergine dip - even some maple leaf fudge from last weekend's Canadian wedding in Paris.

We spent the evening laying carpet in the toilet (we had some left over from the lounge, which with a little trimming fitted quite well). It looks so much nicer than the grey stuff that was left over from before we bought the flat 5 years ago. I cleared out the stack of magazines and comics, and made sure they were up to date. You can tell ours is a fannish house, as we keep plenty to read in the loo...
