Has it really been 10 years...

...since we all fought over those first few copies of Wired issue 1.01?

With the 10th anniversary issue now available, I'm wondering if there's a case for naming those of us who've built our online lives over those years (and in many cases, before) Generation Wired TM....

Wired... that's the young peoples magazine isn't it. I remember when all we had was Practical Computing and we wus happy with it. And you tell young people today about exciting articles
on building your own S100 based system and they don't believe you.

Wow, that has to be one of the saddest items in existence! Do you think we could maybe get a chorus of furries to sing it so we can take the Sad Crown? :-)

It's in a box
I think more time (decades!) needs to elapse before our Wired 1.01's have monetary value as collectibles. Somewhere, I still have my complete run of the first few years' worth. I also own a couple of copies of one of its predecessors — was it Electric Word? I loved that magazine.

I bought a few issues of Wired at some time in the mid-1990s, in part to see what the buzz was about (and because William Gibson had referenced them, so therefore they had to be cool). But the only thing I remember about those issues is that they contained articles about magicians Penn & Teller, which seemed rather at odds with the ostensible editorial purpose....
